Trenchless methods
Hydro jetting in Welby
Hydro jetting scours a sewer or drain line back to bare pipe with high-pressure water. For a Welby lateral full of roots, grease or mineral scale it is either the repair itself or the first hour of a lining job, and the camera decides which.

What a jetter actually does
A hydro jetter pumps water at high pressure through a hose and a nozzle designed to pull itself down the pipe while cutting everything in its way. Rear-facing jets drive the nozzle forward and scour the walls; forward jets open a path through a blockage. Different nozzles do different jobs: a rotating chain or root-cutting head for the dense root masses that cottonwoods and elms push into Welby laterals, a penetrating nozzle for packed grease, a descaling head for the hard-water deposits and rust tuberculation that narrow old cast iron. The debris is carried downstream to the main, and a camera run behind the nozzle confirms the wall is clean.
When jetting is the whole repair
Some lines just need cleaning. A PVC lateral under a 1990s house in Adams County that has slowed because of grease and paper is sound once it is jetted, and the camera will show clean walls and tight joints. A kitchen drain in a restaurant with a thick grease coating is restored to full diameter without any structural work. A cast iron line under a 1960s slab that has narrowed with scale often flows like new after descaling. In these cases the jetting is the service, the recording proves the result, and the next step is a maintenance interval rather than a repair.
When jetting is the first step
More often along the Front Range, jetting reveals the real problem. The roots come out, and the camera shows the open joint in the clay pipe that let them in, shifted by decades of bentonite clay swelling and shrinking. The scale comes off the cast iron, and the bottom of the pipe turns out to be rusted through. In those cases the jetting has done its job as preparation: a cured-in-place liner needs a clean, bare host wall to bond to, and a lining crew will not install over debris or grease. the verified installer covering Welby jets every line to that standard before lining it and records the clean pipe so you can see the condition the liner is going onto.
Pressure, nozzles and fragile pipe
The operator matches the equipment to what the camera found. Vitrified clay with open joints and Orangeburg that is starting to deform get reduced pressure and a nozzle that cleans without hammering. PVC and sound cast iron can take more. Pressure that is too high in the wrong pipe can push water out through a bad joint into the surrounding soil, which on an expansive-clay lot is the last thing anyone wants. A jetting crew that goes in blind, without a camera, is guessing about the pipe material and its condition; the pairing of camera and jetter is what makes the process safe. The reasoning behind that pairing is laid out at the CIPP reference.
Grease lines and commercial maintenance
Commercial kitchens in Welby generate grease faster than any residential line sees in a lifetime, and the interceptors do not catch all of it. Jetting on a scheduled interval, quarterly or semiannually depending on volume, keeps the drain at full diameter and avoids the emergency backup on a Friday night. The crew works from the exterior cleanout after hours and leaves the kitchen ready for the next shift. For apartment communities and retail centers, scheduled jetting of the shared lateral is cheap insurance, and the camera footage from each visit builds a record of how the pipe is aging, so a liner can be planned before the line fails.
What to expect from the visit
The crew locates the cleanout, runs a camera to see what is in the line and what the pipe is made of, selects the nozzle and pressure, and jets from the cleanout toward the main. A second camera pass documents the result. If the walls are clean and the joints are tight, the visit ends with a recording and a maintenance recommendation. If the camera shows structural defects, you get that footage and a written finding, and any repair is quoted from it. Installers who follow that sequence are listed at the verified installer directory.

Questions we hear about hydro jetting
Will jetting damage an old clay lateral?+
Not when the pressure and nozzle are matched to the pipe. A trained operator runs lower pressure and a gentler nozzle through vitrified clay or Orangeburg than through PVC, and watches the camera as the work proceeds. A pipe that cannot survive a controlled jetting was already failing structurally, and the camera will show that before the jetter goes in.
How does jetting differ from a cable or snake?+
A cable punches a hole through a blockage and leaves most of the material on the pipe wall. Jetting strips the wall itself, carrying roots, grease and scale down the line to the main. The difference shows up in how long the drain stays clear and in whether a liner can bond afterward.
Will the roots stay out after jetting?+
No. Jetting removes the roots that are in the pipe today but does nothing to the joint they came through. In a semi-arid climate, cottonwood and silver maple roots return to a leaking joint every growing season. Only a liner or a sectional sleeve takes the joint away permanently.
Can a kitchen line be jetted without closing the restaurant?+
Yes. Commercial grease lines are usually jetted after close or before opening, from the cleanout at the back of the building, and the kitchen is in service for the next shift. Many restaurants in Welby put jetting on a maintenance schedule rather than waiting for a backup.
How do I get a price?+
Phone the crew or fill in the form. They scope the line, send you the video with a short written finding, and price the work from it. Estimates are free; call now.
